hmmm...
dchow@... 2nd Aug 2007
This reminds me of the all too well known datsun-nissan bit and then nissan:infiniti We all know how that turned out.

Some things to consider for our home customers vs. our business customers. If they keep it like this, people will continue to be increasingly involved with the linksys name brand and be less swayed when an IT person goes; oh boy.. cisco, there goes your wallet.

Something else to think of if Cisco finally merges all products into a single manufacture line: does this mean SMB or even SOHO appliances will have easier documentation and accessibility? Could this mean even cheaper prices?

Oh and after 156 votes... SMC has 0% go figure HAHAHAHA!

Why Linksys?
Freebird54 2nd Aug 2007
pretty simple really -

1. easiest to get at the time
2. easy to administer
3. performed as described (and advertised)
4. Support worked when I had a problem with a 2nd unit (wireless)
5. Support was apparently on this side of the pond (North America)

I have no real doubts about D-Link, and I have heard that NetGear is fine too - but I would buy Linksys again without hesitation.
I had a netgear wireless router and it didn't last very long. My Linksys cable modem has lasted 6 years and my new router is Linksys and works great!
If Cisco would get their marketing strategies flowing in the right direction. I believe their home based products would see a significant gain. I definately agree with mlcain48. I have now had my Linksys Wireless router for some time now. It is reliable and I have had Zero Issues!!
