I just saw the pictures for the Poor Man's PC and couldn't help wonder why a Stealth wasn't used. Agreed the Stealth can be pricey ($1250 in some places), but I'm sure they could create a lower cost version minus the multiple firewire and USB ports. Or better yet, a keyboard which doubles up as the USB hub thus reducing the no. of ports the system needs at the rear.
To add, I use a Stealth system for file storage and overnight downloads as I can't afford to keep my gaming rig turned on 24/7 (it uses a 500W Cooler Master PSU!)

Too easy for kids to knock the LCD/computer off the top of the table.
At least put it against the wall.
Need to enclose the monitor in Lexan.

Actually, a spoof is "Microsoft releases source code". The spoof is revealed with the "but you can't touch it" caveat.
I betcha this is an honest attempt at a usable cheap PC with no strings attached. The wood part DOES seem a little hinky, I will agree.
Future posts from the author will, no doubt, reveal the truth whether I'm gullible or you're a cynic.

Come on! Duct Tape, and technology, live wires, this if this was being used to inventory all the handtools in the garage, or download auto engine tuner mod chips this would be the PERFECT guy project.
Here is a link the the guy's blog, which includes a few images, and rather detailed plans...

Assuming it is not a "spoof", it was indeed called a "mock up" in one of the captions (not even a prototype) and it would possibly work. Why are you confused that the cover is not there? How could you see the guts and have them explained if the cover was on it? Get real, he wanted you to be able to see "INSIDE" the box.
Hee, hee, I was thinking the exact same thing! Besides looking "outside of the box," one must look at the "inside of the box," in order to get it! DOH!
Heck, my kids are begging for more PCs to play Neopets. I have FiOS and lots of bandwidth, all I need are better CPUs and more RAM. I'll take existing PCs and replace the MB, CPU and RAM... voila.
