What happens to the attachment if the database is moved? Does the attachment go with it or is the link lost? Is this different from a hyperlink because the attachment is absorbed into the database?
I must be missing something but isn't this the same as creating an OLE Object field in the table to hold the actual file. I have created several solutions that allow a user to store and retrieve a file stored within MS Access. This functionality has been around since at least 97 I think. If this is just a link then why? I have not yet been able to sample the delights of Access 2007
The new Attachment field (data type) isn't using OLE. This is a new format for 2007. An earlier version won't recognize it.
The functionality is similar though, but there are differences. For instance, you can store multiple files in the same attachment field. The Attachment dialog box makes working with these files easy. In addition, you can move the database or the attached files without breaking anything. Perhaps most importantly, the stored files are small -- OLE objects were huge.
You can read more about the new attachment field in the Help files -- just search on "Attachment Field."

Is it possible to view the attachment, in this case a person's resume, printed on an Access report? Say for instance I want to print an employee profile report where the first page includes basic employee information and then the next page of the report begins the resume attachment. Is this possible? Thanks in advance for your help.
