With google potentially entering the fray after their possible spectrum purchase in February, if their new phone or service supports wimax, it could disrupt the whole telecom ecosystem. No other company has the potential and resources to challenge the giant incumbents that are often too slow to realize or act on the upcoming threat - similar to how tesla motors or the apple iphone came out of left field with innovative products in "tried and true" industries.
