I suggest you do not join tech republic becuase they blatently ignore
requests to stop sending news letters etc.
I have unsubscribed every day for the last few days and still I get
emails from them.
I get enough junk mail as it is without gettings daily news letters as
well.
If you, like mnost people, are fed up with junk mail and don't like
companies who ignore requests to be taken off mailing lists (which
you did not want to e on in the first place), then do not sign up.

I will be happy to divest you of all your worldly possessions and convert them to a cash donation to the Breast Cancer 3 Day in honour or in memory of the person of your choosing.
Yes, I know that I am being extremely generous here. It's just my nature.
The Susan G. Komen for a Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust will thank you profusely for your gift and I will be just that much closer to reaching my fund raising goals for this year.
Who knew what a generous guy (?) you are?!?

Yes im a guy, I am the poster formerly known as Anthony, I only just realised I can alter my user name
I assume that you have a "junk mail" email address. (If not, go to Yahoo and create one.) Then go to your account setup for Tech Republic and put that as your email address.
Where it says Site Help & Feedback.
There you can submit a question.
Then Maybe, just maybe, you will receive some help.
OR
You can post on the site to not join.
Guess which will be more effective?

TechRepublic produce a lot of Newsletters (over 40), I personally am subscribed to at least a dozen of them.
When I no longer require one of the newsletters, I unsubscribe.
Unsubscribing from a newsletter only stops that ONE being delivered. If you signed up for all of them, you don't want to be unsubscribing from one at a time.
At the bottom of the emails, there should be a link saying "free newsletters". Click it. At the bootom of this page there is a checkbox saying "unsubscribe from all..." Check it, and click update.
Instead of posting this and getting all frustrated, did you try contacting them?
Send them an email, asking nicely, to have your account removed. Sit back, relax, and have a nice cup of tea, and I'm sure they'll sort it out for you.

Before you decide that TR is worthless because of newsletters, please take a moment to email them and let them know the problem.
There have been other peers who have tried to stop their subscriptions only to have the newsletters continue to show up. A peer mail to Beth will generally get these things straightened out for you.
I understand that the email box can get unruly. Believe me, if you are having a problem with getting your newsletters stopped, TR really does want to know so that they can fix the problem.

There is utterly NO POINT at all, posting "Do not join Tech Republic" ON TECH REPUBLIC because the only readership you are likely to get is from people who have ALREADY JOINED!!
Made some sort of rift in the space-time thingy.
Sapphire and Steel had to sort it out.

You're stuck.
I'd say I'm sorry but I'd be lying and you wouldn't feel any better... so why go there???
How's it going?

Since joining TR, I have never received a single piece of junk mail, news letter or unsolicited piece of e-mail. I subscribe to Geek-end and that's it. Maybe by some mistake you have subscribed to some of the other newsletters or done so by mistake. Unsubscribing may be a different story however, but I've not had that experience.
I have unsubscribed from newsletters and they stop. and if all else fails, simply setup a rule in your email viewer (all packages support rules of some sort), and auto delete anything from them and you will never see them.
We like sending junk mail to all those in Middle-Eastern countries.
It's our way of getting revenge for all the phishing scams that come from that part of the world.
I'm still waiting for my check for 50,000 big ones... I did everything my "long lost relative" asked for... woe is me.

is there a way to change your profile info that appears on your posts.most forums i get on to let you have a username and keep your email and location as more private.it seems like when you post here,it shows your email and location here, where anyone who comes on here ,even just to look can get anyones info just by looking at the posts.
Go to "My Workspace" and then to "Edit Profile". Make the changes that you wish and save.
The more information (general, of course) you are willing to put in your profile, the better. It helps us get to know you somewhat. Selecting an avatar that is reflective of you also lets us get to know you. And you may also change your screen name to an alias if you wish.
Your email addy is truncated to the rest of the world so what I see is this: rayjohnwig@... I prefer to use an alias which is really kind of silly as it isn't difficult to find my name.
You have complete control over how much information anyone else is able to see. There is a forum FAQ if you need more information or feel free to ask questions. The regulars will be happy to help you out.

You just joined. You haven't contacted TR and you are lying...
Good times...good times.
Good times...good times.
i just joined because i could'nt get an a clear answer on a not too difficult question and was looking for some clarification.and i saw this thread.i am a printer technician and belong to several tech forums, but it seems odd that i would use an email address for my username.or at least most forums allow you to change what info you show.at the bottom of the profile page there is an option with the radio button that you can select to allow or don't allow other tech republic members to contact you.but this way it seems like anyone who breezes across this forum could contact me if they want.
See my post to you above and feel free to ask for help in modifying your profile. We always like seeing new people!

We're saving up the slaps because Palmetto is on holiday and can't stop us.
On the plus side- for Palmetto- I am in the process of making up his very own hard hat so that the headache is bearable. Won't he be surprised when he gets back!

you obviously ae not following the cancel instructions correctly if you can't.
This worked. I did not find the ZNet newsletter there, will look at the bottom of the next one to see if that can be cancelled.
That was my point, if you follow the unsubscribe directions correctly, then they remove you from the mailing list.
TR is very concientious about doing that.

The account you're currently posting under was created yesterday so I'm sure you must be referring to another account, right?
If there is another account receiving emails, please send me an email message: beth.blakely AT techrepublic.com
I can help you get off those lists. There are also unsubscribe links within every newsletter.
