I probably walk down as many blind alleys as a junior developer, experience simply helps me recognise I have quicker.

Could have done with a mentor myself early on, would have saved a lot of stumbling about banging my head on the wall that 'magically' turned up in front of me.

In fact a key from experince is how quick you realise an idea is not going to work.
