I believe that technical ability and people skills are both important and the person that exhibits both is the best candidate for a job. However, if I had to choose a candidate with only one of those skills for a technical position, I would pick the one with the technical ability. As an example, let's say I need life-saving surgery. I want the surgeon with the best skill even if he is a S.O.B.
