It depends on the context and the image the company wants to project. I work on a campus and the Help Desk people are most all casually dressed. At least one has long hair and tattoos and a goth sort of look. One who has moved to another company used to have a beard like Ming the Merciless. In my company this is fine, elsewhere it may be totally unacceptable. If you have the freedom to have the hair, tats, etc, enjoy it.
