why a specific hotmail address I have whitelisted hasn't responded to an email.
I am unable *to send* mail to Hotmail and MSN accounts. I have a Yahoo! MailPlus account and I am allowed to send mails from my email client (KMail) through smtp.mail.yahoo.com using SMTP AUTH mechanism. This works well for me, except for Hotmail and MSN recipients. My messages are rejected with the following "Remote host said: 550 SC-001 Mail rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. Reasons for rejection may be related to content with spam-like characteristics or IP/domain reputation problems."
One could understand the policy if Yahoo! SMTP servers were "open" relays. However, since Yahoo! requires SMTP AUTH before relaying my messages, I don't understand why the messages are rejected.
Others experiencing this problem?

and that may be partly why you are having problems. But, I always receive mail from yahoo accounts and any contacts that I need to so far.
I have had one evening where hotmail gave an error message that I should wait until later to send messages. Unfortunately I couldn't save as a draft because of the same problem. I would just have to save it as a wordpad document or something until the problems are ironed out.
There used to be a way to contact hotmail support, but I must admit I don't remember being very satisfied with the results.

Yes I have the same issue, I have both a "real" email and a yahoo and hotmail, I'm able to send from the real to the yahoo, but not to the hotmail. I am able to send from yahoo to the real, but not hotmail to the real. Actually I can only send to other hotmail accounts on the hotmail..nothing outside of hotmail.
ODD....but it's microsoft....so what did I expect!
