Your analogy is flawed. To even call them "different levels" is to denigrate one or the other (you haven't specified which is which). Web developers and traditional developers are laterally seperated, not vertically seperated as you imply, and *neither* are anywhere near the "hobbyist" level. A much better analogy would be comparing a municipal police officer and a county sherriff.
