Dude,
I think I understand the point you are trying to make, but your argument is woefully weak. Spending an afternoon a week working with children is vastly less difficult than 80 hour weeks for 10 months of the year. Please don't use this lame analogy to bolster your argument.
I would put anyone into a developer slot provided they:
Use source control
Write their own unit tests
Document their code
Use naming conventions
I'm sure there are other criteria, but these typically separate the dilettantes from the professionals, regardless of the platform or language.
