I work for a company called ChangeBASE that has developed a product called AOK that allows you test for Applciation Compatibility in minutes. We have created over 100,000 rules and a workbench that allows you to drag and drop applications into AOK and run a report on their readiness for say VISTA or Virtualisation in minutes. AOK also fixes most of the issues we identify automatically. We work with MSI's but have developed AOK Convert-It which allows you to drag legacy applications (e.g. .exes) into our workbench. If you would like to test the results we offer a free test of say 15 applications whcih takes c. 15 minutes.
What we need in current scenario is more detailed idea on what are different resources for installing applications in a server-client environment. Although ACT or SMS server 2003 aee some of the options but if compare with more such tools then we will be having a clear picture on how these differ in functionality. I am working on deployment part so waiting for Vista to be launched in our environment and then check the tools available for successful installations.
