TCB I know exactly what you mean and I believe you are 100% correct.

When the company can (and very often will!), with zero notice, wipe you off it's books, it cannot expect one iota more of loyalty in return!!

However, saying that to your managers is not necessarily a wise move! I don't recommend lying to them, but the sound of silence is often a wise course of action.

Loyalty is not something that is bought with salary - how true. You get an hour of my time for $x. I'll match the company's guarantee of my job longevity with my loyalty.
