Actually, this drive was one of the first with self parking heads. If power was interrupted, the drive motor was used as a generator just long enough to retract the heads. I know this because this was my first hard drive, and when I went to shut down a Navy Zenith 248 they freaked because I did not park the heads first. Never knew about it because mine didn't have that problem.
