Where Are You?
Are you in Afghanistan?
I ask this because you say that you hear: "we are glad you
are here". At home in the US the news media, we hear
very contradictory reports concerning Iraq but not
Afghanistan. Afghanistan is widely viewed as a conflict
worth fighting.
The general sentiment where I live, New England, is that
we need to somehow extricate ourselves responsibly but
quickly from what we see as a terrible mistake that we
were duped into by the current administration. While
Afghanistan is a different story.
It must be very difficult being a US soldier right now. I say
this because there has been an effective effort to link
support for the war in Iraq to the support for the troops.
If it makes you feel any better, you can be assured that we
all support and appreciate your service. I know this
sounds like a caned statement, but it isn't.
As an older guy I have to say that anger wouldn't help.
When you choose a profession freely, you have to accept
all that comes with it.
This is not the right forum for it, but I would love to here
what's really going on in the middle east without any spin
from either side.
God luck and stay safe.
