My take is that *ANY* US administration gets involved/meddles in foreign affairs primarily to 1) serve the interests of US corporations (big money contributors), and 2) distract the US public's attention from domestic issues.

It is much easier to find fault or pick a fight with your neighbor(s), than to summon the courage and strength to look inward and address one's own flaws.
