Gotta play devil's advocate on one point...
"1. Concentrate the country's resources to developing alternative energy source."
The current administration has made great strides in looking into alternative resources. There have been numerous contests resulting in government contracts to further alternative fuel concepts. The mainstream media has reported on it, but not in great detail. The new CAFE laws and updates to existing laws on the books take greater strides than ever before, all due to the current administration.
Take it from me, I just built a newer (2001) Mustang motor with over 575 horsepower. I had to go to extreme measures (and pricing) to make sure everything was compliant with current CARB certifications. Each individual item needs CARB approval to pass emissions...plus you still have to pass the sniffer test once all is said and done. Trust me, it was no easy feat and required hours and hours of reading and checking...not to mention doing tons of calculations. But in the end I ended up with a car that almost puts out 600 horsepower and exceeds the emissions testing limits on a factory car my make and model. Not to mention it actually gets 5 more miles to the gallon than it did from the factory...assuming I keep the gas pedal under half throttle. But occasionaly it's fun to bury the throttle, waste some rubber, dig holes in the asphault and burn more dinosaurs than neccessary.
