It's off topic but you made me think of it. A number of years back I remember an article on one of the big names in robotics. At the time, his research intaled a robotic upper torso with a few basic instincts or sorts and a huge memory server. The idea was to see if, given memory and instincts, the machine would collect enough data to evolve it's own AI of sorts. I never did find out how it turned out and have long since lost the article.

Do you remember such a thing and have you any thoughts? It's research AI rather than gaming AI but still..
