Every other click generates an error of some sort. Pages that do load only do so after refreshing multiple times. Other pages don't load at all no matter what.
Is it just me? At the rate contacts online are dropping away, maybe not?

No it's not you. Constant Dropouts.
I knew that I should not have posted that link to ZDNet.

another instance of using MS software screwing everyone over.
the CNET preference for MS powered solutions is the cause of 95% of the problems, the single sign on for multiple sites means the poor MS server handling them gets pooched from having to work.
the pulling content from other servers causes partial and failed page loads all the time.
after all, the major community sites runing an open source solution don't have these problems.
[ poking cnet with a hot iron cause they do so love MS malware solutions. ]

Many of the site's pages include a component from a third-party website. That website has been down for the past few hours.
It appears to be back now. We will be watching it closely and definitely taking additional steps to mitigate this kind of dependency.
Again, I apologize for the problems.

I'm not subscribed to any newsletters, but I'm getting a daily digest newsletter.
I was wondering where that one came from
didn't subscribe to a new news letter since getting to work for my new employer. Then all of a sudden there was this new daily digi newsletter.
Doesn't bother me a bit it just goes directly into a bin being emptyed at the end of the day. Just like normal cleaners doing there job after (my office)working hours

clear up a bit. Alltho ... Have to wait untill the total page is loaded before starting to scroll down or up ... gives some nice "blue-ish" stripes on the screen doing it before the total load of the page
I wonder where those blue stripes come from ... any of you USA-people any idea?

We have removed the problem component, so everything looks normal on our side.

After stumbling through the problems with everyone else, I'm met with a dead OS after Vista Home Basic SP1 install.
I was beginning to think the two might be related.
Manual shutoff -- straight safe mode without networking -- system restore -- reset updates to download and notify only -- back online reading about glitches.
