In the Classics Rock post about F-19 Stealth Fighter from Microprose

I pointed out how even though the game seemed cool and advanced 20 years ago, now it seems rather comical.
What games did you play back in the day and how do they stack up against the ones you play today?

I played nearly all their games . . . from the very first F-15 Strike Eagle (PC), the remake of F-15 Strike Eagle (with Desert Storm campaigns), F-19 (and its follow-up, F-117), F-15 Strike Eagle II, and the RRT series, and... and... and...
Sigh.
Games in the old days revolve around playability, with really creative approaches. Games today depends too much on "Wowza!" visuals, not enough playability. Case in point: Crysis need EXTREME graphics... but playability (IMO) is just so-and-so...
I really miss the old gaming days

Have it loved it, low level flight over Libya. YEAH!!! This and Tank Platoon are what I majored in during high school
Yeah, I think I flew more missions over Libya than Iran as well. Almost never did the European campaigns. The levels with the Russians were always too tough!
Maybe I'm just sad but when I went to work I actually went to work.
Unfortunately, none of MY Micropose games had a key for when you threw an obvious 'sicky' so you could stay at home and play all day long!! LOL!
Either way you'd come unstuck eventually.
Those were the days.
Mind you, I recently (2 weeks ago) grabbed a copy of a slighly 'old' flight sim called "Falcon 4 - Allied Force" and I'm still trying to get through the 779-page PDF Manual !!
