We all oversell in the consulting field. But I don't mean that as a dastardly plot to under deliver either. Often what the client needs is someone to give them educated guesses or confident approaches to issue resolution or the answer isn't where they think the problem is and we know it.
Ultimately, if you can solve the problem then you deserve the fee (unless you bankrupt the client).
