Only the local guys are going to get that -- sorry.

Those are genuinely funny. My favorite is #10, but "How I met your motherboard" is just good, clean pun.
Thanks.
Credit where credit is due though. Toni Bowers mentioned CSI:TechRepublic in her Career Management blog.

I thought CBS would be changing TechRepublic for the worse, I had no idea that this was a joke topic. Good one.
I was concerned when Gartner sold TR to CNET a few years back. As a Gartner subscriber ( bloody expensive memberships!!) I enjoyed the offerings of TR at the time.
The only thing I have really noticed is that TR has changed with the times, not changed with the ownership.

Windows and Mac are the commonest OSs out there, although there are a few others. We suggest tips and tricks for at least those two OSs.
Network, wireless, and Web security would also be a good topic.
Thanks for asking!

it's rumored that Katey Couric will head up the new blog division.
that is a false rumor. The woman grates. She is a blatant phony. Or so she appears to me.
bye bye techrepublic, it will be sad to see you go. CBS doesn't care about b2b tech... sad end of an era for you.

Double or nothing, you're a crasher.

That is what happens with these corp buys... First you get moved to a new night and time then you get moves out to the backlot along with F-Troop, The Munsters, The Three Stooges, and Johnny Quest.
hehe,
I love the line up! Can't wait!

"Hmmmm...now how are we gonna really monetize all these on-line computer nerd ramblings at Tech Republic,ZDNet etc.? Dvorack who? Sounds like an alien to me," crys the CBS jelly-bean-counters.
Sounds like a whole new take on the collegial axiom "Publish or Perish" is about to take root
on several hard drives there methinks. Hope y'all
got a CBS Rootkit Revealer & Audio/Visual anti-virus suite handy. Looks like you're gonna need 'em.
Alas Poor Dvorack...We knew him well!

I'll miss your interesting and useful columns and helpful downloads. As of today I will unsubscribe from all CNET sites & letters.
Tracert is the Windows command. Traceroute is the Linux command. I couldn't decide which one to use because I knew whichever one I picked someone would say I used the wrong command. So, I figured I'd save the extra ASCII.
I was right! *chuckle*

In the email newsletter announcing the acquisition, there were two links: one under the headline "CBS buys CNET... now for our 10 New Blogs for the Fall line-up!" and another under "our new Fall Schedule!" The second one brings you here... but the first one takes you not to the top 10 blogs, but rather to "10 Reasons for IT Failure." Is this a snide comment about CBS' ability to manage an internet function, or just a "slip of the tongue"?
Hmmm. Is this why CNET discontinued the online courses? That left a lot of us very unhappy!
Will Dan Rather be leading the news division? I mean, I USED to trust CNET, ZDnet, etc. Now I can't trust what I read here anymore. Too bad....
