I have a Dell and couldn't find the install disks, but the code number was on the bottom of my pc. I thought I'd use this method to reinstall from someone elses's discs and then change the reg number.

It didn't work.

Any ideas why?

will save me a lot of time reinstalling the operating system to put the right product keys

Great stuff
I've tried this fix eight ways from Sunday and it still don't work. My copy of winxp pro keeps giving me the fatal error display of systemsroot\system32\oobe\msoob /a don't exist.

You have to get the text right

%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe /a

There was an extra 's' in the video - but you left out a few things too.
This procedure worked perfect for me and it saved me time from having to reinstall Windows....Thanks a million....
