This is a great suggestion. How about doing it with word art?

Hi Mary,

I am Jyothi here. I was looking for the same tip. Thanks for posting this. Had tried various ways of creating a watermark in the word, but today got to know how to do this. Thanks,

Cheers,

You do know, that my word2k can:
Format / Background / Effect / Picture
(translated from danish - find it yourselves)
That is watermark - without spoiling the header in doc.

Too restrictive

The method described will only give a restrictive watermark. The Header method is much more tailorable and effective

Why Not?

Although you are correct in that a watermark can be achieved in the method you described, the effect outlined in this article is much more custom and allows for more options to get the effect you are looking for. For instance, in Word 2007, all you have to do is go to "page layout" tab and just click watermark to add it to your document, but you may be upset to learn that if you choose a picture, you can't change it to black and white or put it diagonal, really customize it much at all for that matter.

And for 2003?

It would have been helpful to have the instructions for formating the pic for Word 2003 as well as 2007 since the article started out covering 2003.

Thanks.

if i got it right for 2003 is much easier.
open VIEW (Header and Footer), than paste the pic you want (not neccessary from clip art), than place the pic where u want it to have. Thank right click on the pic chose -format picture- in opened window chose LAYOUT text wrapping (in front of the pic). click ok. Than on picture toolbar make it lighter or darker - as u want. and that's all. d i got it right?

Does this work in Word 2000 Premium? I tried several variations... can't get the picture to show (even partially) in the header window.

Very interesting but not accurate for Word 2003. It will work, but the options are not as described

create watermark
esmo@... 30th Apr 2009
In word 2003: format\background\printed watermark\picture watermark (or text)\select picture. Fast and easy
Okay, that is just too cool! Can't wait to try it.
Works, but is complicated, why not do it the standard way of adding a watermark? This method is too restrictive in that not every picture/drawing object is findable via the search for clip art function. It is much easier to go to format->background->watermark. Using the given method, I could not find anything but actual clip art using the search function and wildcards, I actually had to give a path to the "my pictures" directory and even then it didn't find anything but clip art, What about non-clip art objects such as photos, etc. that I might want to use?
Since the title of the article is about using Clip Art Gallery images, I don't think this is a fair criticism. If you want to do a watermark with a piece of Clip Art from your gallery, this technique is easy and fast. Thanks for a great tip!
Bastante util e interesante sobre todo practico, gracias.

You can use the watermark option too but you can't adjust the color depth that way. This way you can choose how you want the colors happy
