for those coming from windows i would recommend, in this order, these Linux desktops:

KDE
GNOME
XFCE
Enlightenment
Afterstep

No, I'm not including all Desktops and Window Managers because many of them would scare windows users away. Afterstep might be one of those because configuration isn't as simple as it should be.
