My title is a Business and Technology Applications Technician - recently changed from Applications Programmer. I find myself doing a lot of generalist stuff in the 10 years of being in this position anyway even though I am supposed to be a ?programmer?.
That's where the frustration comes in. Don't get me wrong, I like having the knowledge of desktop support, but I would also like to have more experience in the programming area, but unfortunately, I don't get many opportunities in that area.
Therefore my knowledge base is "shallow" since all I know is little bit of this and a little bit of that. Needless to say, the IT generalist role fits into my new title.
