If you need to run commands and use GUI programs but not see the desktop or the user's screen then OpenSSH between two systems works well. You can work at the command prompt or run gui apps and have them display on your local screen/mouse/keyboard.VNC can give you a visible desktop view but do your reading on the various versions of VNC and related security. If you need to share a user's desktop for tech support then there are a few choices you should be able to find.I'm not doing desktop support so SSH is all I need to have full control over a remote machine. secure copy, secure ftp, secure telnet and X forwarding.

Both parties need to click on 'connect' within 2 minutes. We keep it within 2 minutes since our product is for a remote support session between 2 people and not remote access. Thanks
