Buying and wearing headphones while you work. I do that all the time because the music, podcast, radio or whatever I'm listening to drowns out the world around me and I can concentrate on what I'm doing.

If you can't or won't do that I would talk to the fella but after work. I would reach him outside with a couple of other co-workers that have a problem with him and talk to him kindly about what's going on in the workplace. That way it's not in front of the boss and the guy could feel that your little talk will be kept private.
