In California, USA, there is a state law that prohibits employers from locking you into their job if the outside job does not conflict nor cause any harm to the business.

This was enacted because too many employers would hire employees, never give raises, enforce a 66 hour work week, and then expect the employees to survive in this horrible economic environment.

Even then...side jobs were never a problem if the employer didnt know. wink
