I mentioned Microsoft Bob a few weeks back in Classics Rock, and some TR members brought up Bubba a parody of Microsoft's infamous operating environment. We got a visit from the author and copy of it as well to distribute on TechRepublic as I mentioned in Classics Rock:

Check it out and download your own copy.

Do you know of any other good parodies of Microsoft or other programs?

Fairly amusing as I recall, especially if you've played Myst.

I never knew why anyone played Myst to begin with, let alone why someone would parody the thing.

Pyst
mjbdiver@... Updated - 28th Aug 2008
PYST was a very funny MYST parody that had funny animations and videos featuring characters such as The Prince Formerly Known as Prince and King Mattruss (played by John Goodman). Goodman also sang the PYST theme song on the game CD's only audio track. I still have the CD and enjoy going back to Pyst Island every now and then.

quite funny, if you had MYST inflicted upon you
I'm not a good representation though as I didnt' realy get a chance to play it until a few years after and mostly just to see the rendered scenery. I was too busy mucking with LB2, a glider flight simulator and other categories of games more interesting to me.

I still have my copy. I just wished it run on XP. You have me thinking there's a 3 day weekend, I have an old PC win9x and the software maybe i'll numb my Admin brain by playing Myst over the weekend..
Never tried it, but I'd imagine compatibility mode for win 95 would do it.

DOS Game?

I only played Myst once a long time ago so I don't remember. If it was, in fact, a DOS game, get yourself a copy of DosBox and you'll be able to play it.

Win 95, DirectX

Sounds like a win95 compatibility problem.

Myst was designed for 95/98.
and it worked fine. What is the problem with yours? Do you get an error message?

Bubba rocks, and so does his story.

Thanks for the further insight into this rather amusing and interesting bit of history.

I'll be checking your Gallery page now. grin
