We recently purchased a SAN and where just getting horrible performance out of it. That is until I turned up Jumbo Frames and can now typically get near Gige throughput. Most server class network cards have Jumbo Frame Rates disabled so it is typically just a check mark under the properties for the NIC. That's just my two cents. Hope it helps.
