I'm really happy with regulation of the Internet as it stands today. I've been using the Internet since September 1996 and I have seen a lot of changes, but for the most part state and federal authorities have kept their hands off.

As for sales tax on items sold by online vendors, it is only a matter of time before that happens. It is just too large to be ignored. I'm surprised it hasn't happened already.

New York's back door attempt to collect sales taxes is exactly the wrong way to go about it though. It adds more complexity and confusion.
