It doesn't work if you have a line break and also if there are a number of sentences. With line breaks the all first cap doesn't work. Same goes with sentences. You can capitalize the first letter of the first word in a sentence. But you cant apply first caps to each word individually.

I know it doesn't make sense to have something like that. But sometimes I like this quick formatting when I need to use it in other text editors (mostly for programming). All first caps with line breaks would be a good addition.

Create a style named UPPERCASE, put the cursor on the text and click on the style .. viola!

Les.
Nice tip, didn't know about the keyboard shortcut. happy FYI, another helpful tip is to create a 'Change Case' macro button. This way you only need to select text and click the button. It'll toggle between lower case, caps, and having each word's first character capitalized. (Unfortunately, it too won't capitalize each first letter if you try to apply it to text with line breaks.)

ChangeCase macro
bkreamer 3rd Oct 2008
I assigned "Alt-C" to the ChangeCase command.
Right click in the menus, then do Customize, Keyboard, Format, ChangeCase; put your cursor in "Press new shortcut key"; press Alt-C, hit "Assign", and Close.
I use it many times a day.

I prefer not using the mouse, so thanks very much. On my pc Alt+C is taken already by Acrobat so I left as is and will use the default Shift+F3 shortcut.
This is a great feature and millions of word users use it around the world. But ... millions of users also use Excel. And they want to use this handy feature in their spreadsheets. But no ... Microsoft is too lazy to add it after 7 or 8 versions of Excel. Youhave to write macros to make it work in Excel. Heloo Microsoft ... macros is so 1980's. Get with the century and make your products "easy" for users (not techies) to use.
You can make your own "custom keyboard shortcuts" with Hot Keyboard Macros
http://www.hot-keyboard.com/hkpro.htm

I use it to Change Case in Word, Excel, Notepad, Outlook.

Change Case Macros can be downloaded from
http://keyboard.marksanislo.com/macros/change-case.hkb this is to be imported to the Hot Keyboard Pro Ver 3.2

This will change to All Upper Case, All Lower Case, Capitalized Each Word and Multi-line to Single-line

I also use Hot Keyboard for other help things.

(Control+Shift+C) - Brings up a menu of ?canned phrases? for log notes - less typing and no spelling errors & it decreases repetitive strain injury.

(Control+Shift+W) - Brings up a menu of various Windows Directory folders

(Control+Shift+E) - Brings up a Menu of applications that I can Execute (Outlook, Telnet, SSH, CuteFTP, Notepad, MWSnap, EZthumbs,Calc)

(Control+Shift+G)menu of google searches
http://keyboard.marksanislo.com/macros/google-search.hkb this is to be imported to the Hot Keyboard Pro Ver 3.2

(Control+Shift+B) A menu for ?booked marked? websites within Hot-keyboard menus system, it so much faster than using ?favorites? & better organized under a specific job functions.
This is possibly the most usefull shortcut i will ever use
Instead of using Ctrl + Shift + A for changing case, use Shift + F3 for switching from lowercase to uppercase to titlecase & vice versa.
