Another desperate move by AMD who has a massive History of Desperate moves which have taken it to the edge of Bankruptcy for years now.

So now AMD is selling it's ability to make anything and at the same time trying to push its designs?

Looks like the end to any form of competition against Intel and that's defiantly not a good thing.

Alowing the new entity to make products from other suppliers. This means that the current AMD Manufacturing Plants are no longer in the control of AMD and do not need to buy their designs.

So when this deal goes bad just who will AMD have as a customer?

Looks as if AMD has finally managed to shoot themselves in the head now we just have to wait around for them to die completely.

Hardly good news as Intel needs competition and even though AMD hasn't been really great competition they have at least been keeping Intel Honest and pushing forward. I doubt that will happen as fast in the future now. All that Intel needs to do is Approach The Foundry Group and ask them to manufacture some bottom line product like the Atom and flood the maker with orders for product. At that point there will be no need for AMD CPU's from any business entity.

Of course that will then hurt everyone.

Been in the works for a long time, no details are available -- LOL
That means its been in the works since July, when Dirk took over shocked
What a putz!
Well, I guess AMD's major downfall is going to stay -- probably the same for ATI as well.

As the financial sector goes crash, I believe that we will see even more of this kind of dealing. The question yet to be answered is if it is the right thing to do in the current global market.
