I had recently taken a pleasure trip where I walked around an abandoned sulpher mine in a pair of sandals. The next business trip my laptop passed inspection, but the sandals were in carry-on and set off the detect-o-meter. That did cause some delay. Make sure everything you have is squeaky clean.
