When this camera was new, I found it worked very well, particularly for well-lit outdoor shots. But its battery life was always trouble.
Over time the batteries proved even less capable of powering this unit, so much so that I found myself having to carry two or three batteries when attending a single event where I might want 50 pictures or so.

My current Fujifilm S6000FD is a great camera in many ways, but the battery life is so much worse than expectations. Eeven with premium photo batteries, its hard to get more than 100 outdoor pics, or less of course with flash inside.

S6000FD has a smallish LCD. NiMH batteries upto 2800mAH are there everywhere now. And slow charging is often better.

From a design perspective, Mechanical and production...I have to say a very well design unit. You were able to disassemble without any "real destruction", came apart nice and clean. A good design if the factory ever repairs it. And I was surprise by all the metal....which indicates quality, strength, should be able to restand a few mishaps....a very good mechanical engineering design. So my hat is off to Fuji......now for the consumer angle...pictures...well I can not comment on that.
I am happy to see a camera in this "Cracking Open" series. Digital cameras are difficult to work on. This is a help. Good work!
