One of the articles linked in the post (The
disconnected project) described the failure of
one remote project -- a failure that had a lot
to do with communication. What debacles have
you experienced when communication broke down?

Contacts out
ssharkins@... 28th Oct 2008
I worked on a manufacturing project for over a year because of totally unnecessary and unavoidable delays. My contact with the company traveled for weeks on end. I'd send E-mails with questions or concerns and not get a response for weeks -- literally weeks. So, I'd work on something else and then he'd be annoyed when I couldn't just drop everything when he rang me up. Worst project I ever had.

I've had a couple of those. "Please don't
put in too much time on it" until they need
it, then it's "Why isn't it done?!"
Great tips, especially the humanity element.
