Analogies show rounded intelligence
Most of us are capable of being extremely technical. It's really not that difficult if you just focus and find your niche in understanding it. Ever notice how some folks learn new technologies so damned easy where others struggle to understand the basic concepts? I don't believe it's because one is more technically inclined than the other. I believe it has to do with getting to your 'sweet spot' of understanding. The folks who 'get it' usually are very good at creating analogies inside their own head and relating. Those who struggle usually haven't been able to make that connection. This, I feel, is where the intelligent technical folks shine through. Some folks relate Technical and Intelligence as almost the same thing. They're far different. Technical skills are acquired, Intelligence is a culmination of several scenarios, most of which is simply DNA but quite a bit is acquired also. When one has both, it takes them to a new level. However, you move well beyond all of this in the realm of capabilities when you not only understand technical things, but are also able to successfully help those who struggle understand. This is usually done by finding out what they do understand well and you - yes you - making the leap to a proper analogy to help them understand. Happy Friday to all!
