We hope you all find this FAQ useful. If there are other tips and tricks you'd like to see covered in an upcoming Community FAQ, drop me a line (trol at cnet.com) and let me know!
Ok, so this isn't your "regular" show, but I still would love the TR community to watch the video and provide feedback in the discussion thread.

Sonja...what part of Florida? What major metro?
Just curious. I live near Tampa.
Hope you're enjoying the 70+ weather

I might could do that. Just...no photos...or, men in black vans and sunglasses come and take you away and no one else get TROLOV.
I do work for the government...after all... lol
Ft. Myers...er...that is...4 or 5 hours from me? I live north of Tampa actually, basically between Tampa and Ocala on I-75.
How long are you going to be there? Let me know. I actually have one free day that (if my mother doesn't hijack me to fix something for her) I might be able to get down there.
Let me know

I got a hotel for the night in Ocala, because there was no way I could make the final three or four hours after driving all day long.
It was only about 200 and some miles from Ocala, so even less from where you are. Peer mail me if you are able to hook up, and I'll give you my cell.
No cameras? No Flip video? Sigh. I guess I can agree to that.

Looks like plans to have time off are voided for the weekend of Dec 26-27. Mom said she wants me to help Dad with removing Christmas decorations and lights, and putting them back up in the attic. She's scared he'll fall off the ladder again. And of course being an old-school man, he's too proud to ask for help.
Wish I'd have known you were in Ocala when you were. That's only about 35 mins from my office.
I apologize, Sonja. If I make plans to get up you're way, I will definitely peer mail you. And, I'll buy the margaritas.

I started watching, and about 96 seconds in, you say "Seriously, if you're watching this..." and then it stops
I will check back. Would love to get all the FAQ stuff in one presentation. Thanks for doing so

of my network. I know they blocked me from Sirius today. Maybe they're killing all multimedia/streaming.
And I just found out that TR has Blogs.
Who'd have ever thought that would happen.

It grabbed the entire thing this time too. It converts it to a .wmv file for playing in WMP.
Our satellite sytem has limited bandwidth, only 350MB per day before we hit the Fair Access Policy threshold and get throttled way back, That's why I'm going to continue to bug you to put a start button on the video, a la Youtube embedded videos, that will prevent it from loading until I want it to. I, and others, might want to visit the page that contains the video more than once and we don't need the 50MB plus content loading everytime. I might be a minority of one in this matter but I'm going to keep complaining until I get my way or until everyone else is miserable and sick of me.

Before I decided to download it I got several buffering timeouts before it even got to the title page. That may or may not be the fault of my ISP as I can generally watch other sites videos uninterrupted yet I almost always have buffering problems with TR videos.
New video content gets my attention either from a blurb on the home page / portal, or when a discussion based on that video appears in the Discussions forum. I notice that clicking a link to the video from either of those locations takes me to a 'traditional' TR article page, one without the fancy video layout and it's 'See Full Transcript' link. (Yes, I'm one of those who frequently complain about the lack of transcripts.) Is there a way to get all references to a video (home page, discussions) to link to the video-formatted page and not to the 'traditional' style page?
For example, I got to the TROLOV FAQ video from the discussion that resulted from it. Clicking the link at the top of the discussion takes me to a 'traditional' formatted article page without the features of the video formatted page. Why not have the link at the top of the discussion take me to the video formatted page for the video?
Also, I assume this discussion was started by someone who viewed the video on a 'traditional' page. If I click Comment on a video started from a thumbnail on the Videos page, it starts another discussion apparently separate from the one started on the 'traditional' page. See the discussion I started for the TROLOV FAQ video when I viewed it from a thumbnail on the Videos page.
In short, it looks like there are at least two ways to access videos, one of which appears to be superior but is harder to find and not the default method used at TR.

We've asked Santa for a transcript button on the video player within our blogs, as that seems to top the TR member video wish list. Santa is mighty busy this time of year, but we're hoping it might be a New Year's resolution.
Covering informative information without boring us. How does she DO that?
Well done, again.

Now where are the Blake's 7 Series DVDs? I would like all 8 of them as the VHS that I have are not that great. Well good enough for VHS but a remaster and transfer to DVD would look so much nicer.
Much more importantly when did CBS Start selling these.
But more to the point I went looking for a change and found this under the FAQ's Page of TR
How do I find a post I made/contributed to/am interested in?
If you contributed or subscribed to the post, you can find it listed under the "My Forum Posts" link located above your avatar on the right of all Forums pages. Your listing of Forum posts can be filtered by clicking the options in the upper right hand corner: Discussions Posted To; Discussions Started; Discussions Subscribed To; Questions Posted To; Questions Started; and Questions Subscribed To.
If you find a Discussion or Question that you're interested in revisiting but you do not post to, it's best to subscribe to the discussion so it will show up in your My Forum Posts list. You'll also receive updates via e-mail when new posts are added.
Perhaps a Senior Editor need to look at what is posted here after a Site Redesign as I was under the Impression that the Avatars are no longer on every TR Forum Page.
