Thats generally the first question I ask when I'm brought a computer from a customer that tells me 'it says it has a virus'. Limewire is a demon program spawned in the depths of hell itself. Yes I realize that it could be used for 'good purposes' but %99.9 percent of the virus/malware removal I do is from the kids or grandkids of customers going online to get free music using limewire. I just finished up 4 malware removals this past week alone and all 4 of the pcs had the limewire program. MS antivirus 2009 was a particularly difficult removal (its new btw), got a built in rootkit along with some other nasties. If anyone reading this thread needs help on removal of this nasty piece of malware feel free to contact me. I used combofix along with mbam and some other free tools to get rid of it.
