http://www.techrepublic.com/forum/discussions/102-301773-3215491

You had argues thatLinux had a bootup time of 20 seconds. Kick off, Windows 7 beats Linux with a less than 15 second booting time in an average machine. It tooks 20 seconds to boot on a system with memory 512 MB and Intel P4 2.88 Ghz chip. Every version of Windows supports C++ ISO standards, and Microsoft specific Managed code support along with Windows API's. WIndows had DNS security, and the ever best filesystem till now known as NTFS. I'd rather laugh at you saying about ext2. Windows 7 requires far less hardware resources than Vista. Windows 7 even runs on 256 MB of RAM with Aero turned off, and even Aero turned on(some slow). Windows versions comes with system restoration feture and if a Linux fails, its nothing better than CRAP!. Linux uses cranky methods in UI and contains no user experience factors. Watchout recent news and ratings and see yourself why Windows Server 2008 R2 is beating Linux out, and why people are switching to Windows Server 2008 R2. See the latest servers compromised by hackers in the near past was 80% Linux servers - WHY? is it the security of MOST RELIABLE OPERATING SYSTEM? lol Linux is good only for its price and opensource. In other terms its nothing good even compared to crap! Linux had tons of problems working with several hardwares, touch screens, touchpads, bluetooth devices, mobilephones, webcams, printers, scanners and lol a hell lot of devices including wireless keyboards and mouths as well as certain AMD processors! If i'm installing Windows in my computer, i didnt need to take the pain of searching compatible drivers and installing them. Windows does it all, and after installation i will be all ready to use my computer. If i use Linux, that stupid OS needs drivers for my lots of hardware, and i cannot use most of it.. Some devices have drivers some will not, and opensource kids have written some drivers which will often crash my system! MOst devices i had will work with partial functionality only. So i will be haing Money loss due to linux. WHY SHOULD I INVITE LOADS OF TROUBLES FOR FREE? Move to Windows, you will all be having what you need for it t just work fine. Shelling bucks is not the problem, you need to get it work right rather than getting screwed by FREEWhat free? never expect free meals from anywhere!

http://www.techrepublic.com/forum/discussions/102-301773-3206451

Because Linux based systems are not ideal for running DirectX Windows games, they are not good at anything; based on your logic. I think you oversimplify grossly for the purpose of trolling.I wouldn't suggest one simply buy a console unless they where already looking to do so. If one did choose to buy a console purely to move gaming off a desktop then it also wouldn't negate there desktop platform choices. If gaming was the person's only need and specifically DirectX based titles then the logical OS platform is the one that has DirectX now isn't it. That doesn't negate the fact that a libre OS platform can be installed at no financial cost. That doesn't negate the other things that the platform does better than Windows. It just means that a platform not known for DirectX gaming would not be the ideal choice for a person who needs DirectX gaming. But, for your line of reasoning, I can see how it's more important to simplifying everything down to "it doesn't run my video game so therefor it does nothing else well either".
