Home would be a pain to have to do. Can you even begin to imagine the education job required to explain to users that they've got to log their web traffic? Let alone actually get them to do it. Let's be honest, if I'm logging my own traffic, how hard would it be for me to falsify it unless they insist in it being done in some specially encrypted manor. Eventually someone would figure out how to hack that anyway, or would just bypass the logging. The only way to stop that would be to insist on the router itself to do the logging which would require some form of local storage on the router or face losing the data any time there is a power cut or someone turns it off (both of which occur regularly for us)
Conceive this at an ISP level, the only level at which it makes any realistic sense for accuracy and the expense would be crazy, particularly for any network redesign that would be required. When they were talking about similar in the UK a few years ago some of the most profitable and healthiest ISPs provided clear evidence how it would bankrupt them to implement even in the most optimistic scenario.
It seems, yet again, the government is trying to force a technical solution on a social problem without understanding what it is they're actually doing.

You do not tell the enemy that DADDY is the Admiral of the War so you can get better treatment. Notice most of the Vets VOTED FOR Obama. PBS ran a few specials on both of them and I was appalled at this decorated war veteran when the Vietcong film was shown, showing how the "Prince" was taken care off. Obama on the other hand is a well educated man and studied a great man Dr. Martin Luther King. What a load of crap. George Bush needed more authority to twart plots against us by known terrorists and that is compared to this big brother/big government scheme how ? Barack Hussein's vision of our future is pretty scary. This stuff goes against our constitution. "We the people" is being transformed to "We the governemt". I will take capialism over this crap anytime. Socialism and big government do not work well in other countries but we have to somehow emulate this flawed way of life. I will take personal freedom and responsibility over the government dictating to me how to live my life. You liberals just remember how good you once had it because there will be widespread poverty in this country. We can say that we were once the envy of the world.

You're right! Not only do they want total control, but the means of doing this is to keep our eyes off the ball while they implement schemes like this. The reason? Because they are terrified of the knowledge we gain on the internet which we get more accurately, and faster than the heavily censored crap they feed us in the press, TV, and radio today and which are all owned by these psychopaths. If we find out the truth quicker than they can lie about it they have to find a way to take that power away from us, and this is it. They know that it will be impossible to implement, but they also don't care because the end game will be to remove the service of all of us who don't/can't log our use. Same with ISPs, if they go broke it's less they have to worry about. Until the internet arrived they could spin their webs of lies and deceit and get away with it before we found out the truth, and now they are so threatened by the freedom the internet provides us with, they want to stop the spread of knowledge. The market screamed to get price wars going for lower prices. In TX our market was regulated and we paid the lowest in energy. Cable was Deregulated and prices have sky rocketed. The IDEA of deregulation did not drive competition to provide lower prices what it did was allowed an illusion and the "Market" to manipulate higher prices virtually uncontrolled. Thus my pet dog was sent a credit card application, and my Dead Grandfather keeps getting mail to open bank accounts. Home Loans are a JOKE with the ability of the banks and lenders to raise rates at will with little or no notice. Regulation is required to control these organizations now even more so that these bail outs will get paid back and not happen again.
This person takes issue with the current administration based on the topic of discussion. Resorting to the "Bush is evil" rhetoric has no relevance to this discussion. It may however be relevant to point out that the Bush administration had "serious reservations" about this topic when it was proposed by the Democrats a few years back.

It is a total shame that we all are asleep at the wheel when it comes to our government. What will it take for us to awaken from our daze ? This type of actions that we let our politians get away with will only take more from us. After a while when we have nothing, maybe we all will be happy. Logging ip traffic is only one of many costly things that have come down the pike. Just keep in mind the Boston Tea Party. I encourage everyone to take a little time and read the 22,000 page North American Free Trade Agreement. We are destined to merge with our friends to the north and our problem to the south. There is a lot of Bull S*** that the government blinds us with in one hand so we do not pay attention what they are doing with the other hand. In a way I feel sorry for our children, that they will not have the life and the freedoms that we have HAD. Having a terminal medical condition, I may not be here to see the reality of what will have to come.
