When you right-click on the presentation folder in Explorer, instead of the Copy-Paste steps, you can, at least on my system, alternatively select "Send To" CD-RW drive. This gets you more directly to the CD Writing Wizard.
Could you save a step by directly saving the package file to: %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning ?
Then you could just burn directly in XP without having to copy and paste to the cd burning drive.

Thanks for the tip, but (having no interes in a bike shed discussion) is this a weakness in documentation or testing?
I'm sure MS intends PowerPoint's "Publish Package for CD" to be a feature, and I'm sure it works as intended. On the other hand, I'm sure most users expect any file created or modified with any software to work with the CD burner they use.
Special cases could (should?) be handled in documentation, while mismatches could (should?) be caught in testing. Couldn't (shouldn't) they? I think so, but . . .

But you need to have PowerPoint installed in your computer to view them.I do not think that Nero would turn PowerPoint into a VCD or DVD.
just to view the presentation. Use the PP viewer program:

If need be, you can even use pack n' go to include the viewer on the CD, then launch the presentation inside the viewer, which is a standalone exe
