I taught VB/C#/Intro. to Programming classes at a community college for 3 years. On the first night of class, I made it a point to inform my students that there would be no "traditional written exams".
FWIW, I don't believe that selecting True/False, A, B, C, D or None of the above will help programming students write a nested looping structure.
I truly believe, the best way to learn to code, is by examing code written by others, and writing code yourself.
