When did you last backup your e-mail client?

Client, no - data, yes.

Why backup a client?
Or you can just use Opera with it's built-in "Opera Link" feature, syncs (and backs-up) your bookmarks, Speed Dial sites, custom search engines, typed-in history, notes, and Personal Bar...between Windows, Mac, Linux, and Opera Mini/Mobile for your phone. (And it's accessible on the web, too.)

This sounds great.
Will this work with Microsoft Outlook and IE?

Thanks in advance

Did you read the article at all?
someone else mentioned Opera in another conversation. I love that it includes a sync/backup feature but I understand that this is done by uploading your data to a third party server before downloading it into the secondary location. I'd rather not include an untrusted third party with any of my data storage.

Unison syncing the profile directories between browser installs covers my needs for Firefox though not as elegant as a native function.

Firefox backup

The Febe extension in Firefox does a good & selective backup/restore job, so - no offense - why install another piece of software?

(Highly) Preferring MailstoreHome
HBE Updated - 11th May 2009
personally, for archiving email, I do prefer the freeware app MailstoreHome from DeepInvent:

MailStore Home archives email from:
Microsoft Outlook 2000, XP, 2003 and 2007
Microsoft Outlook Express and Windows Mail
Microsoft Exchange Server Mailboxes
Mozilla Thunderbird and SeaMonkey
POP3 and IMAP (including webmail services such as Gmail and Yahoo)
.eml and other files

It's very user-friendly and easy to use combined with a strong choice of output / storage preferences and functionality.

See http://www.mailstore.com/en/mailstore-home.aspx for all details before trying.

Cheers,
HBE
mmm is a good software, i think is interesting but i use IE7 and Outlook 2003/07... and this software dont support.
My Outlook trapped mail causes the same issues. For things in the exchange hosted personal folders, the server backups cover it. For things that don't need to remain on the server, personal PST files cover it. They get synced to a backup location including them into the company backup cycle.

You can also export contacts and such to a more portable format. They can either be restored into a free Outlook or another client application.
