These days I'm supporting end users in a Windows environment, so my hands move around enough I no longer worry about RSI. I used to work for a Large Left-coast National Laboratory (belonging to the DoE) where I spent a lot more time on the command line. The Lab employed a LOT of computer scientists, who spent pretty much all day with their fingers on the home row. Lab management did the math, and they were willing to invest serious coin in preventing RSI - we had ergo keyboards (from the "Wave" up to the serious models from Kinesis), Aeron chairs for thousands of employees, even the nifty power-lift desks so you could work standing or sitting.
Having met a few RSI sufferers, I would pay for those myself if I thought I was in danger of injury, but I'm personaly much more likely to fatten up due to sitting around all day. Huzzah for the IT life! At least with the weather getting better I can start riding my bike to work again.

Yeppers - I think the thing that frightens me most is my back side starting to take the shape of my task chair - YIKES!!
Hence the reason I spent the last few months in the gym when ever possible. Now my doctor is telling me to slow my routine down because I could risk kidney damage. Just when I was through hitting my target weight and starting to bulk up after shedding the fat.
I work in a computer lab. People cough and hack and sneeze all over the equipment day after day, hour after hour. Ewww...
Back problems caused by non-ergonomic chairs and non-adjustable work surfaces.
Eye strain and Headaches.
By not eating healthy and getting enough vitamines and nutritions into our body makes us weak and sich and not able to do our work properly.
The pressure to finish the job often leads to malnutrition.
Take a time out to power up your body.
Be safe.
Andr?

I've heard it rubs off after repeated exposure or that it can be absorbed through osmosis.

Seriously, my biggest fear is sedentary work place environment effects.

Take some initiative! You can do all sorts of stuff to avoid the problems that come with
"sedentary" work environs. At my work place I lift heavy objects while my machines are running. You you guys just watch progress bars? Do some push-ups when no one is looking. Try desk dips. (What you really need is situps to get rid of that gut) I do trail running on the weekends. You should play so hard that sitting in your chair at work is your relaxation.

Th only thing I can think of is the risk of jail for walking in and taking out all these pricks one day.
It's usually the people in meetings that do most of the talking and never really accomplish anything or for that matter let anything slip from their mouth except for stupidity or hot air.
A couple of quotes come to mind:
"It's better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and prove it."
"Light travels faster than sound, which is why some people look bright before they speak."
Yeah, it has been one of those days...

You forgot about the mental health issues that can occur in a high-stress environment.
