Totally agree there should just be one version .. what galls me is that I have good versions of XPsp3 working on machines and Vista has been a nightmare - a free upgrade to those who entereed the vista arena would be good but will never happen. I am dreading how many copies I will need to buy of windows 7 Ultimate ( or what ever the quivalent will be) just to keep all the features I want!
Office is just as bad .. following a trial of 2007 preloaded on a students laptop ended he rushed and bought the student version . and now he cannot use Outlook as it is not a part of that office suite . He has now moved to Thunderbird and will encourage all his friends to do the same!
Wake up Microsoft to the real world!
