We use both SCRUM and ITIL and have never had a problem.

Agile development doesn't mean making continuous unplanned changes, it means making sprints that follow the product and sprint backlogs. Don't forget that the burn down chart is a formalized view of what the development should look at/like.

Agile development also focuses on continual service improvement, just like ITIL.

ITIL is long term, while agile is short term.
