Vitriole vs. a bit of objectivity
Wow! A lot of heat generated here..seems to have developed into a depressing "love, and-or, hate anything apple-related" diatribe and getting away from comments on a "fairly-if-of-ltd-use" app.
Have any of the reviewers actually used the app?
So, here's a wee bit more objectivity and some comment on the app. itself (who cares about the platfrom?):-
I will refer to Quickoffice as it is the one which I have on my ipod (not iphone, so I'm ltd to relying on wifi availability).
Primary reason for choosing was the stated ability to edit both excel and word files away from a pc/mac (whatever! I use both OSs and hold no gripes).
Quickoffice's ability to access idisk is a handy feature, but not the main attraction.
OK, so it can edit excel and word; fine, but be warned - it cannot handle graphs (excel) and table formatting/creation (word) is not an option (yet?).
This shortfall in capability severely limits its usefulness as as a moblie office app.(better to get a notebook and avoid eye-strain...despite the ipod/iphone zoom feature).
Maybe the orginal thread could have mentioned more of the apps. shortfalls?
By all means, buy the app. if you want basic stripped down MS capabilities for pennies.
BTW: do the apps for the BB/other smartphones have full excel/word ability and can they be classed as mobile offices? (genuine question and not an attempted swipe; as one of the threads mentioned, a BB-based review would be useful)
