Fifteen years ago when I got into this business I read a debate of "experts" about magnetic screwdrivers causing harm to magnetic media and motherboard components. The sum total was, the strength of magnetic field around a magnetic tool is insufficient to cause any harm to anything in a computer. I have since used magnetic drivers for all my work, and have never caused any harm.
